The Library of the Czech Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as a LASCR)is attached to eduroam

eduroam is an international project dedicated to promoting mobility and roaming in national research and education networks (NREN). In the Czech Republic, this project is covered by CESNET. The LASCR joined the project in 2015. Another step was taken to increase the quality of services provided and the prestige of the institution.

One account / anywhere

A registered subscriber can use this wireless network (wherever available) using a single user account. Account management is done by the home organization. The use of roaming is simple, the subscriber's properly set up device connects automatically when the eduroam network is available. Similar to the connection to roaming networks of mobile operators abroad. Hence the acronym: education roaming.

The service is free for all participants.

Activating eduroam account

Eduroam uses a username consisting of two parts - the username itself and the realm. You will add the @ and realm characters for your user name as roaming, depending on your home organization, for example: user00@lib.cas.cz. You will also need to set the appropriate password before roaming.

Setting up user devices to connect to eduroam

For a secure connection to eduroam, it is not enough just to enter a name and password. You must also set up a certificate check, it is easiest to do it with eduroam CAT, see documentation at eduroam.

You will need the following information for manual setup:

Covered spaces

eduroam is broadcast unlimitedly in the Jenštejn - depository of the LASCR and in the locality Prague 1 Národní 3 in the library hall.

Traffic filtering

User traffic is filtered in accordance with the laws of the Czech Republic.

User traffic is not affected except for outgoing SMTP traffic filtering (TCP / 25).

Support

LASCR users can contact mail or phone +420 221 403 463.

Users with an eduroam account should look for support primarily for their home institutions.
